Prepster Fashion: Owning Many Variations of the Same Item

More than half the time when i'm out shopping with my friends, they laugh and tell me i'm about to purchase something I already own. And yeah, they are kinda right. I'm totally fine with it. Short explanation as to why ....

Because the preppy style has existed for pretty much forever, the staple clothing is pretty consistent throughout the years. A huge upside to this is not feeling the need to dress with the trends, and feel reassured that you won't feel ridiculous in 20 years, like you will looking back at a photo of yourself wearing a fringe crop top with the phrase " I woke up like this" across the front".  I'm also not talking about event wear, i'm certainly not going to be sporting LL Bean Boots at a music festival, no I am talking about everyday where.

The preppy staples such as, crewneck sweaters, chino shorts, cardigans, stripped shirts, buttons ups, etc, are all reoccurring in different brands and colors in my wardrobe. To be fair many of them have different uses. Some are for summer or winter seasons, others are more dressed up/ dressed down, some just fit completely differently. It's okay to wear what you like, even if it's repeated. Just as it's fine to own multiple basic white tops. In fact you probably should.  Most of the time when I buy an item I already own in a different variation, it's because it's an item I actually wear frequently enough that having another around would be great. If you wear things as often as I do, having multiple variations of it just makes sense. In my own defense I do only own one blue blazer, sadly I still have not found the perfect stripped shirt.
